Principals' Message

Welcome to/Bienvenidos a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School of the Arts (MLK SOA)!

 

At MLK SOA, we believe that families and staff partner together to validate and affirm the identities of our students and build a bridge to a rigorous learning environment full of love and supported by the arts. As we work together to empower our students to be independent, creative thinkers, we strive to provide opportunities to grow personally, academically, and socially. Our commitment to our community centers on all of our responsibility to positively engage students locally and globally so that authentic learning sets the foundation for students’ academic and career success. We offer opportunities through our arts partners on campus (Palenke Arts and the Weston Collective), events for the community (e.g., Latin Art Night, concerts, “Love Our Central Coast”), and unique offerings (e.g., electives for 5th and 6th grades students, classes with professional musicians). Like our co-principal model, we strive to build a school in which all individuals are powerful, influential contributors to our familia.
