ELAC - English Language Advisory Committee
ELAC is a school‐level committee composed of parents, staff and community members designated to advise school officials on English learner programs and services. ELAC members are elected by parents/guardians of English learners. ELAC meets every 4th Monday of the month, unless combined with a school site council meeting.
ELAC responsibilities include:

Advising the principal and staff in the development of a site plan for English learners and submitting the plan to the School Site Council for consideration of inclusion in the School Plan for Student Achievement.

Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.

Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

Each ELAC shall have the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).
ELAC officer positions:

Chairperson: Leads meetings, develops agendas with the principal, and serves as the school's representative to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).

Vice-Chairperson: supports the Chairperson in conducting meetings, leading them in the Chairperson's absence, and participates in agenda planning.

Secretary: Records meeting minutes, maintains the committee roster, and performs other record-keeping duties

DELAC Representative: Attend district meetings to represent the interests of our school. Report back to the school site ELAC and share information from the DELAC
In addition, DELAC (District English Learners Advisory Committee) meets several times a year. Representatives from each school's ELAC committee and administration meet to discuss the services the district provides.
